City rolled their sleeves up to battle their way to a point against second-placed Notts County.
It was not a night for pretty football with the pouring rain and heavy conditions.
But City gave as good as they got in a fierce contest.
They survived an early scare when Luke Rodgers, cleared to play after his weekend red card was overturned, got in behind Steve Williams.
Rodgers was always a lively presence for the visitors but first-half chances were at a premium.
City's best fell to Gareth Evans after Luke Oliver and Williams flicked on a free-kick. But Kasper Schmeichel turned the striker's stab round the post.
Michael Flynn denied Craig Westcarr's goal-bound effort soon after the break before Ben Davies missed a great chance to fire the visitors in front from close range.
Schmeichel saved an Evans cross-shot while James Hanson, a busy worker at both ends, put a decent chance over the bar late on.
