Neil Parsley paid tribute to his former Farsley squad this week after players found new clubs.

The former boss of the now defunct Conference North outfit – whose record has been expunged from this season’s table – said: “Our skipper Dominic Krief and left back Ryan Serrant signed for Park Avenue, several of the lads ended up at Harrogate Town and Matty Young joined Guiseley.

“I think Harrogate got the best deal with Lee Ellington, Gareth Grant, Dave Syers, Roy Stamer and Josh Radcliffe signing for them.

“I knew they would get snapped up and I’m sure the other players didn’t have to wait long to find new clubs.

“They are a great bunch of lads and, to say they were thrown together on a shoestring budget in a hurry before the season began, it is a tribute to them that they did so well.

“They showed talent, spirit and determination in bundles and I believe that they would have kept Farsley Celtic in the Conference set-up despite the ten-point penalty that was placed on the club from the start.”

It has been rumoured that the consortium that came close to a rescue package will now try to buy the ground from the club’s administrators.

That would give them the base they need to launch a reformed club and apply to the UniBond Division One North for next season.

But Parsley remains in the dark on that front.

He said: “I took in a game last Saturday, not just to keep my finger on the pulse but because I couldn’t face a Saturday without football.

“No one has told me of John Palmer’s plans and, regarding my position, I will just sit tight and have a little time to myself.

“It is so far on in the season that I don’t envisage opportunities presenting themselves. I will see what comes available in the summer.

“What happened to us at Farsley was very difficult to take but I still want to be involved in the game.

“It isn’t the first kick in the teeth I’ve had during my time in football and it certainly won’t prevent me from thinking about taking on a new challenge.”
