Thackley will be expecting a bumper crowd on Saturday, and not just because it is fourth hosting fifth in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The opponents heading for Dennyfield are the well- supported Scarborough Athletic, the club that emerged following the demise of the former Football League and Conference club from the east-coast town.

They were widely tipped to go up but their promotion challenge has faded to the extent that they go into this clash four points and a place behind Dave Morgan’s Thackley, with both clubs having played the same games.

Morgan has spoken at length over the past few weeks about the improvements the Reds have made but he still demands more.

After recently winning at third-placed Rainworth, Morgan will be urging his charges to gain another maximum and break through the 60-point barrier this term.
