Michael Boulding still wants City to win promotion for the “amazing” fans.

Boulding and Peter Thorne were both paid up this week as Peter Taylor’s new broom sweeps through Valley Parade.

But the striker is not bitter over his departure – and hopes the Bantams can find their long-overdue success.

He said: “I’ve had a great time at City and they are a fantastic club. The only down part was the actual playing side for me because I didn’t get enough games.

“But I think the fans are absolutely amazing. I just hope for all the people involved that they get the promotion they deserve.

“I think they’ve got the right man as manager to do that. He is very experienced at working to a budget and bringing in loan signings and I’m sure he will take the club forward.

“It’s far too big a club to be languishing around in the bottom division.”

Boulding has spent the bulk of the season on the bench but he admits last season was more frustrating when City’s play-off push collapsed to nothing.

He said: “We had such a good team and looked like we were cruising. Then we just blew up.

“This season I didn’t really get much of a chance and didn’t play enough games.

“It’s disappointing to finish like it has but I think it’s the best thing to do it now rather than drip on to the end of the season.

“I might not agree with the (club’s) decision but I can totally accept it. Only time will tell whether it was right.

“Obviously the club is being run as a tight ship now. It will be good for them to work with the youngsters and think to the long term. I need to be out there playing every week and scoring goals.

“It’s no good for me watching a mid-table League Two team from the bench – that’s not what I’m about.”

Boulding is not allowed to play for anyone else this season, although he can train at another club.

He added: “There are only six or seven weeks left so it’s not a complete disaster.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people in the last few days and just need a fresh start, somewhere I can play week in, week out.”
