It was a bad day for local sides in the Northern Counties East League.

High-flying Thackley could be considered the highest ranking casualty but in-form Liversedge, their Premier Division rivals, could arguably wrestle the upset of the weekend crown from the Reds.

No doubting it was frustrating for both, with Thackley taking the lead at Winterton only for the home side to mount a second-half comeback.

Debutant Liam Bartle, signed from Eccleshill during the week, delivered a free-kick which Shaun Airey flicked on and Rob Morgan finished with a volley on the turn.

That gave the visitors the lead just minutes before the break but Winterton came out in the second half with all guns blazing.

Rangers’ pressure was rewarded with an equaliser on 58th minutes when Gavin Cooper scrambled in a ricochet.

Both sides had chances to win it but it was Rangers’ Liam Slack who got the ball in the net in the penultimate minute.

Thackley remain in fourth despite the 2-1 defeat while Liversedge dropped two places to ninth following a 3-1 reverse at Maltby Main.

The home side’s Adam Shepherd put them in front in the fifth minute and James Radford extended the lead just after the half hour.

Sedge halved the deficit through Andy Philp nine minutes from time but hopes of a comeback were shortlived because Greg Mason wrapped up the scoring soon after.

Eccleshill remain in the bottom two of the lower tier after a 7-0 hammering at Hemsworth MW.

The Eagles were trailing 3-0 at the interval in front of 106 supporters.

Andy Haywood put the home side in front after just 14 minutes and added the second before Damion Liddle netted.

In the second half, Lee Dawson and Lee Swift scored before Haywood completed his hat-trick and Tom Grindel turned it into a seven-star display.
