Thackley travel to Winterton Rangers on Saturday for a Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division top-eight clash boasting a huge 15-point advantage over their hosts.

While the home side are comfortably placed in eighth spot, Thackley are enjoying a magnificent run and seemingly scoring at will.

The Reds are fourth, putting pressure on the top three, and would break through the 60-point barrier this season with a win.

Thackley manager Dave Morgan said: “We all know it would take a massive slip by Bridlington Town (ten points clear at the top) for us to go up but we have to keep the pressure on them and see what happens.

“We have scored a hatful of goals lately and got some very promising results but we can’t relax. It has to go on until the end of the season or we will be handing the title to Brid’ or one of the other clubs above us.”

There is only one promotion place into UniBond League Division One North on offer and that will go to whoever wins the NCE League Premier Division title.

LIVERSEDGE are even further behind their neighbouring rivals but are seeking a top-eight finish to qualify for next season’s NCE League President’s Cup.

Sedge are seventh at the moment and would expect to pick up points to consolidate their position when they travel to lowly Maltby Main on Saturday.

Division One leaders BRIGHOUSE TOWN host Staveley MW, who are fourth, and will know all about the home side.

Staveley boss Billy Fox spent over a year in charge of Thackley before moving closer to his Sheffield home earlier this season.

ECCLESHILL UNITED broke a sequence of three defeats on the trot with a 4-3 midweek victory and that lifted them off the foot of the table.

They face a tough trip to sixth-placed Hemsworth MW this weekend but will be hoping to continue the momentum.

SILSDEN also put an end to a losing streak in midweek with a home draw in the Vodkat League Premier Division. They are on the road on Saturday as they head to high-flying Congleton Town.
