Rory Boulding scored the late consolation as City’s reserves lost 3-1 to neighbours Huddersfield in totesport.com Division One East.

Peter Taylor was on hand to cast another look over some of his squad players but saw goals from James Spencer (2) and strike partner Theo Robinson leave Town firmly in control.

The match, at Emley’s Welfare Ground, was first-team coach Junior Lewis’s first in charge of the reserves since his arrival at Valley Parade.

Steven O’Leary, Michael Boulding, Zesh Rehman, Jonathan Bateson and Chris Brandon all featured as they tried to impress Taylor, while former City loanee Simon Eastwood was in goal for the Terriers.

City reserves: McLaughlin, Bateson, Villermann, Carson (Dean 57), Rehman, Horne (Cutler 46), Osborne (Harrison 36), O’Leary, R Boulding, M Boulding, Brandon. Subs (not used): Sharry, Convey.
