Farsley Celtic boss Neil Parsley is coming to terms with the imminent closure of his club.

Farsley face expulsion from the Blue Square North after being charged for failing to fulfil a third consecutive league fixture.

Celts’ inability to agree a deal with their administrators meant they had to call off their game at Harrogate Town tonight.

That followed failure to fulfil fixtures at home to Workington and at Telford last week.

The Conference League are due to rule on the matter at a meeting tomorrow, with boss Parsley having already informed his players of the club’s demise.

He said: “There will be no game at Harrogate because the club has folded.

“The administrator won’t let us play and that will mean the league will kick us out.

“It is curtains for Farsley Celtic and it is not the Conference League that is at fault.

“It is devastating news for the people who have worked under exceptionally difficult circumstances since July.”

A statement on the Conference website read: “Upon instructions from the administrators that the club are unable to fulfil another fixture, this now means that Farsley Celtic face three charges in relation to Football Conference Rule 8.6.

“Due to the seriousness caused by this latest breach, the board of the Football Conference will be discussing this as a matter of urgency on Tuesday.”

The Celts have been in limbo since administrators Mazars refused a revised offer by the John Palmer-led consortium to buy the club.

It is understood that the creditors, including HMRC, would have received every penny they were owed by Farsley had the deal gone through.

However, it is believed that costs relating to the administrators’ fees has been a major stumbling block to a resolution being found.

The players have all become free agents with immediate effect under FA rules.

Parsley added: “That happens now and I spent last night ringing round them all and giving them the bad news.

“They are a great bunch of lads and a very talented group of players.

“I hope they get fixed up with other clubs as soon as possible. It’s over for us.”
