Bradford Phoenix’s fantastic unbeaten 21-match run finally came to an end as the Division 2A high-fliers were beaten 5-2 by Division 1A opponents Mill Lane in the quarter-finals of the Bradford Sunday Alliance League INTERMEDIATE CUP.

The hosts found themselves 3-0 down at half-time to Andy Maltby’s opener, an own goal and skipper Liam Moore’s penalty.

The second half saw a much better display by Phoenix and they struck back through Anthony Lovell and Ryan Hudson.

But a rare second-half attack by the visitors saw Danny Harrison ease the pressure and the same player finally killed off the tie in the closing minutes.

Also through to the semi-finals are Manningham of Division 1A after they edged out Division 1B hosts St George 5-4 with a goal in the last minute of extra time.

Imran Fazil bagged the winner, his second goal of the game, with Mohammed Kessler, Ismain Khan and Riswan Ali also on target.

A delayed SENIOR CUP third-round tie saw West Bowling eclipse fellow Premier Division high-fliers Clayton Orient 3-0 with a trio of headed goals.

Kyle Mulley hit the crossbar during an even first half, before two goals in a minute by Chris Hanney and Phil Brogan put the hosts on the victory trail. Simon Speight’s third ensured West Bowling carry on their challenge for honours on three fronts.

Leaders Buttershaw White Star had Chris Graham’s long-range volley to thank for their narrow 1-0 victory against lowly Bolton Woods as they maintained their PREMIER DIVISION title push.

Darren Fletcher’s strike secured a point for Queensbury as they included two 17-year-old debutants in their 1-1 draw at home to Oakenshaw.

Westwood Park goalkeeper Tom Metcalfe was his side’s hero as the DIVISION ONE leaders won 4-1 at Allerton.

Goals from Josh Milne, Andy Gallagher, Alex O’Keefe and Lee Smith sealed the points, with Ben O’Melia the only player to beat the impressive Metcalfe.

Rock-bottom Seven Stars were leading Wyke Wanderers late in the second half but the visitors fought back to earn a 3-3 draw.

The only DIVISION 1A game finished 2-1 in favour of Thackley Shoulder at home to Bradford, with Adam Tomlinson and a Rob Green header settling the issue.

Andy Brown bagged five goals as Bolton Junction Inn won 8-4 at DIVISION 1A basement side Prospect, for whom Gary Elliott bagged a brace. Damian Lawford and Dave Wheeler were also on target for the hosts.

Leaders Great Northern completed the double over Saltaire Rangers with a 4-2 away win but Gaping Goose kept up the pressure with a 5-3 victory at Ravenscliffe thanks to doubles from Adam Sharkey and Andy Garland.
