Debutant Robbie Threlfall and Gareth Evans scored spectacular goals as City stunned leaders Rochdale.
Three days after that grim afternoon at Accrington, the Bantams bounced back superbly for Peter Taylor with a richly-deserved victory at Spotland.
City had made the dream start with a goal after ten minutes. New boy Robbie Threlfall was involved as his corner was nodded goalwards by Lee Bullock and Matt Clarke latched on to the rebound to score.
Michael Flynn and James Hanson had further chances while Matt Glennon saved Tom Kennedy's free-kick and Dale skipper Gary Jones fired over from a breakaway.
City looked good for a half-time lead but let it slip right on the break as Chris Dagnall's shot squirmed through Glennon.
Rochdale pressed hard after the break before James Hanson should have restored City's lead.
But then, ten minutes from time, up stepped Threlfall to make it a debut to remember.
And Evans made sure of the points with another rocket finish with three minutes left.
