Albion Sports will not retain the BRADFORD & DISTRICT FA SATURDAY CUP after losing 2-1 to West Riding County Amateur League neighbours Campion in the quarter-finals.

Ben O’Melia opened the scoring for Campion and although Albion pulled level before the interval through Jamie-Lee Bairstow, O’Melia’s second goal settled the issue.

Salts, who last reached the final stages of the cup in 1998, booked their last-four place with a 4-3 home win over Thackley Reserves.

Richard Magson, Lee Grice, Gareth Gott and Sam Gooding shared the Salts goals, with George Hicks, Luke Rhodes and Andy Howland replying.

Fields Sports & Social eased through 3-0 at Crag Road United courtesy of goals from Cameron Nelson, Josh Milner and Luke Hodgkins.

Meanwhile, County Amateur League action saw Wibsey extend their lead at the top of the PREMIER DIVISION to four points with a 3-0 victory at Ardsley Celtic as Michael Garnett’s double was backed up by Chris Wood.

Tyersal returned from Kirkburton with maximum points after a 3-2 success, with Terry Ryan (2) and Glynne Beale on target.

Storthes Hall, without a league win in the first half of the season, picked up their third in five games with a 7-1 thrashing of bottom-placed Halifax Irish to move out of the bottom two.

With DIVISION ONE high-fliers Hunsworth, Salts and Ventus/Yeadon Celtic all in cup action, second-placed Steeton took advantage with a narrow 4-3 win at Tyersal Reserves.

Tyersal led 2-0 through goals from Matty Addy and Tony Busfield but Steeton responded through Lee Reilly, Michael Rhodes, Chris Smith and Graham Holmes, before Jamie McEwen’s strike left the Keighley side hanging on.

Bronte Wanderers, Littletown and Dudley Hill Rangers, who are all on the fringes of the promotion race, slipped up.

Bronte and Littletown shared a 1-1 draw, while Rangers had to settle for the same score at rock-bottom Eastmoor.

West Horton, who missed out on promotion from DIVISION TWO by just a point last season, had their hopes of going up this time badly dented by a 7-0 hiding at leaders Bay Athletic Reserves.

Campion’s young reserve side claimed a superb 3-0 win against second-placed Emley with strikes from 17-year-old duo Oredein Odunlani and Brendan Maltby plus Chris Helliwell.

First-half goals from Dave Firth and Brendan Folan were not enough for Dudley Hill Athletic as visitors Kirkburton Reserves replied with a Luke Booth double to draw 2-2.
