Peter Taylor will have a new coach and possibly a new player on board for tomorrow’s daunting trip to leaders Rochdale.
The City boss is ready to start putting plans in place after witnessing the dispiriting defeat at Accrington.
He is looking at two loan signings this week and could have one signed up in time for an immediate debut at Spotland.
Taylor said: “I have been around a little bit so I’ve got some players in mind. Look-ing at us, we do need some.
“We might have a chance of one of them before the next game.
“I really wanted to have a look first of all because it was the first time I’ve seen some of the players in action.”
Junior Lewis, Taylor’s former No 2 at Wycombe, is expected to be at Apperley Bridge today after joining the coaching staff. It is the seventh time they will have worked together.
Taylor added: “Junior’s been out of work since so he will come up until the end of the season as well. He’s just here as a coach and Wayne (Jacobs) will still be my assistant.
“He’ll be fine. I know he can help explain to Wayne the type of things I look for.”
City slipped another place to 18th after being sunk by two second-half John Miles goals at the Crown Ground in front of nearly 2,000 away fans.
Taylor was bitterly disappointed by the flat display.
“We started with a good tempo but didn’t show enough quality,” he said. “The pitch was awkward but there were certain times where we should have looked to play the ball and didn’t take that advantage.
“We’ve probably dropped our standard too many match days and this was one of them.
“If that happens too many times, you lose confidence. It’s going to be a difficult time for the boys but they’ve just got to grind out some results.
“They need to keep working hard and try to lead by example.
“I thought (Michael) Flynn and (Lee) Bullock were very good and pushed on like good leaders. But we needed a few more of them.”
