Alfreton Town 6 Farsley 2
Farsley boss Neil Parsley came out second best in his latest clash with Nicky Law as the former Bantams manager oversaw a comfortable victory for his side.
The Celts’ woes were mainly defensive-based as they shipped in half a dozen but their midfield also performed poorly.
The only real plus for Parsley is that his players have the chance to atone for their subdued performance at home to Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.
Law was able to toast three of his players as they shared the goals by bagging a brace apiece.
There was a hint of fortune as Andy Todd opened the scoring with a deflected shot and the same player drilled in the second from the penalty spot.
Liam Hearn was on the end of a counter-attack to shoot home the third and Hearn added a fourth just before the hour.
Farsley got into the game minutes later when Simeon Bambrook headed in from a corner but any thoughts of it turning into a comeback were stifled when Kris Bowler scored Town’s fifth.
The lead was cut again when Danny Barlow marked his league debut for Farsley with a goal but it was tit for tat as Bowler cancelled that out with a later strike.
“We were very much in the game for the first half hour, even though we were 2-0 down by then,” said Parsley.
“The goals had come from a penalty decision we felt aggrieved about and a lucky ricochet. I honestly thought we could get back into the game at that point but the third, fourth and sixth goals were shocking from our point of view.”
