Peter Taylor can make a success story from the rest of City’s season if he can turn their home form round.
Taylor has not set any specific targets for the remaining 18 games other than seeing a steady improvement from a side that has under-achieved.
A positive finish would clearly strengthen the new manager’s hand for a longer deal in the summer.
Terry Dolan believes the key to reviving City’s fortunes is finally getting it right at Valley Parade.
City have won just three home games in 15 attempts under Stuart McCall – the last in October. Only the bottom three have picked up fewer points in front of their own fans.
Former Bantams boss Dolan said: “I’ve noticed over the years and certainly this season that Bradford have struggled at home. You’ve got to get the home form right.
“Successful teams are built on a good home record. Get that right and the points then build up.
“You get a reputation and visiting teams come knowing they are going to be in for a tough game.”
Dolan feels City have made a sensible move by hiring Taylor on an initial short-term basis, though it does not give the new boss time to implement too many changes.
He added: “I’m not surprised because of the league position the club are in.
“But there are a lot of things that need to be worked on at the club. It’s more than just getting out of League Two.
“And for a manager to be able to do that, he is going to need more than three months.”
