Jamie Wasley and Stuart Wilkinson were give special praise by boss Sean Regan after last Saturday’s victory over Arnold Town lifted spirits at Clayborn.
The 4-2 win put an end to the nightmare run following the big freeze and Wasley grabbed a hat-trick.
Regan said: “Andy Philp and Jordan Missin came in for us and have done a job but Jamie Wasley and Stuart Wilkinson have really outdone them.
“Jamie was thrown in at the deep end, trying to fill the boots of Paul Walker, but he stepped in and has made a big impact with his goals.
“‘Scoobie’ (Wilkinson) has been phenomenal in goal.
“His form has been magnificent, even though we haven’t been winning. We have leaked goals but Scoobie takes none of the blame for that.
“In fact, we could have been far worse off had it not been for him.
“Andy is with us for the duration and he knows all about this level after being with Eccleshill United. Jordan is just filling in for us really, playing when he can in midweek games.
“We have got his registration from Glasshoughton but he hasn’t been playing for them. He is committed to Albion Sports on Saturdays but is a great addition to our squad when available.”
