Celts boss Neil Parsley is determined to reach his survival target rather than having to rely on other clubs slipping up.

Before this week’s win at Stalybridge, the Farsley boss believed five victories would be enough to secure their Blue Square North status.

The odds were stacked against the cash-strapped club at the start of the campaign as they began on minus ten points due to being in administration.

But Tuesday’s 1-0 win moved Farsley back up to 15th position in the table and through the 30-point barrier.

With 31 on the board, which would have been 41 in real terms and seen the Celts just four points outside the play-off places, they are now nine points clear of the drop zone.

Parsley said: “I said before the Stalybridge game last Tuesday that we needed five wins to secure our future in this league and that turned out to be one of them.

“I still stand by that statement so now we have to get four more wins and the sooner we do that the better.

“The next 12 points must be our first target and I believe that will give us a realistic total for survival.

“The last thing we want is to be relying on other results, waiting for other clubs to lose or drop points so that we are safe.

“We want to do the job under our own steam and, looking around our dressing room, I know the players are capable of that.”
