There was a double injury blow this week for Avenue, with James Knowles and Chris Stabb both being ruled out for longer periods than expected.
Knowles suffered concussion in the Burscough game on the first Saturday of this month and has not played since.
Stabb made a comeback from a long-term ankle injury four days later in a West Riding County Cup quarter-final derby against Guiseley but has aggravated the problem.
Bradford boss John Dea-cey said: “James is still under the medics and it is causing some concern.
“Regarding Stabby, I don’t think he will play again this season, he has had nothing but bad luck this year.
“James is back at the specialist today because the bang he got on his head has led to an eye problem.
“His vision is still impaired because he isn’t focusing properly. It is common to get double vision for a brief period after a clash of heads or an accident but it is worrying that it has gone on this long.
“We could do with both players back really but their health is more important.
“Our squad is small anyway and we also have a few playing with little knocks and bruises after the midweek game at North Ferriby.”
Knowles is a big loss as he is comfortable in central defence as well as central midfield, while Stabb would also provide versatility.
On the plus side, Deacey mentioned two additions to his ranks.
He said: “We have signed Brett Renshaw from Garforth Town and young Chris McTigue has come through from the youth and reserve teams.
“Chris has done well and looks to be a good prospect. He may get more first-team chances before the season is out.”
- Tickets are still available for Avenue’s sportsman’s dinner at the Midland Hotel on Thursday, March 11, featuring guest speaker Ronnie Whelan and comedian Lea Roberts.
Tables for ten are £500, with single seats £50.
