West Bowling have reached the semi-finals of the West Riding County Sunday Cup for the second time in three seasons.

The Premier Division title challengers beat Castle-ford side Brotherton & Byron Park 2-0.

Bowling went in front after 20 minutes when a cross from the right was turned into his own net by a home defender.

Five minutes later, Joe Brooksbank doubled the visitors’ lead with a well-taken goal.

Both teams had chances but the Alliance side gave a good all-round performance to run out worthy winners.

There was a much-improved performance from Bolton Woods in the Senior League Cup against Queensbury.

Two goals in the first half from Matt Addy and a 35-yard free-kick from veteran Kevin Woodhead gave the hosts a deserved win to avenge last week’s league defeat by the same opponents. Scott Swann replied for the visitors.

In the Intermediate Cup, Manningham and Bradford Phoenix won through to the fourth round with victories over Wrose Albion and Fiddlers Three respectively.

In round four, the battle of the two league leaders went the way of 1A pacesetters Buttershaw Celtic, who beat 1B leaders Great Northern 3-1.

Nathan and Kane Ramsden scored a goal each for the visitors and James Crossland wrapped up a place in the next round.

In the Premier Division, Buttershaw White Star suffered their first league defeat of the season when they were beaten 1-0 by Relay Recruitment. The league leaders hit the woodwork twice in the first half but a header from Sohail Nawaz on the hour clinched the points.

Silsden beat Baildon Trinity 5-2 in the other Premier Division game, Phil Rishton hitting a hat-trick for the Cobbydalers.

First Division leaders Westwood Park visited Oakworth Juniors and triumphed 6-3.

Cameron Nelson and Glyn Hirst both scored braces for the visitors, with Andy Gallacher and Michael O’Brian also on the scoresheet.

In a seven-goal thriller at Allerton, the home team were 3-1 up against White Eagles with strikes by Ben O’Melia, Bobby Canning and Carl McDonald.

Aaron Heywood pulled one back for the visitors and inspired goalkeeping by Andy Smith kept the home team at bay before Leon Reid and Curtis McMahon restored parity.

In the final minute, substitute Paul Houson snatched the winner against his old team-mates.

Chris Durn hit four goals for Cuedos Rangers in their 5-1 victory at Seven Stars while James Firth bagged a brace for Dudley Hill Rangers when they walloped Ventus United 6-1 with their best performance of the season.

FC Dog & Gun recorded only their second victory of the season in Division 1A when they beat Thackley Shoulder 2-1 with goals from Robert Baxter and Kevin Robinson.

In Division 1B, 17-year-old Adam Hird notched his 16th goal of the season in Dudley Hill reserves’ victory at St Georges.

James Dores hit four goals for Bolton Junction Inn as they beat FC George 8-2. Andy Brown also bagged a brace for the hosts.
