Abbey Hey 3 Silsden 1
The Cobbydalers’ misery goes on after they slipped to a disappointing Vodkat Premier defeat at basement outfit Abbey Hey in Manchester.
The home side were two goals up inside four minutes and, even though Silsden bounced back with a seventh-minute reply, they conceded a third in the first half and failed to mount a comeback.
Just two minutes into the game Danny Cox waltzed past Peter Hanson and Liam Blacka before netting a shot into the top corner across the face of goal.
In the blink of an eye it was 2-0 when Sam Jones slotted in a low drive.
The lifeline for the visitors, following that nightmare start, soon followed. A Blacka through ball sent Chris Simpson on a run into the area. He tried to ride a challenge from Danny Doherty but the referee decided it was a foul and Simpson netted the resultant penalty.
It was a flash in the pan for the visitors and the home side restored their two-goal cushion through John Hardy in the 39th minute.
Silsden battled in the second half but failed to trouble the scorers or threaten to deserve a share of the spoils.
