From a professional point of view, you could see Stuart McCall’s departure was coming and it had been talked about. But that didn’t make it any easier when it did happen.

You saw last Saturday’s performance and everyone was giving their all for the manager. There wasn’t the slightest hint of losing the dressing room.

It’s sad to see someone who loves Bradford City so much not achieve what he wanted.

The gaffer said it was going to be a hard season and we were under no illusions. You say the right things at the right times but, with the budget cuts, we knew it would be.

We all got a bit carried away earlier on. We were flying and everyone thought it was great. But then the confidence dips a bit after a few defeats and it’s been tough to get out of it.

The gaffer and Jakes grafted every minute to do the best they could but it just hasn’t worked.

But even the lads here who haven’t played as much as they’d hoped would never say a bad word against Stuart McCall. That’s the type of person he is.

From my view, someone like him signing you was a huge lift. He’s played me almost every game this season and told me on the quiet when he thinks I’ve played well.

For a lower league player like myself to hear that from someone who played at the level that he did means a lot. With what he has done in football, I’m sure he will get a job somewhere else.

Whoever comes in here now, there’s no denying they need to get us playing. We’re generally putting in the performances but a switch needs to be flicked to get those wins coming – and definitely at home.

Changes of manager happen so often in football and we’ve got to get on with it now.

It is a fresh start for everyone. Whether you’ve been playing regularly or haven’t featured in Stuart McCall’s plans, it makes no difference now.

The majority of the contracts are up in the summer. If you want to be here next season – and you’d be daft not to – then it’s time to go out and earn a new deal.
