Liversedge slipped to a 1-0 loss at Hall Road Rangers in the Kool Sport NCE League Premier Division but there were promising signs from two debutants.
The only goal came midway through the first half when a Ryan Haigh back pass was seized upon by Adam Walker.
New signing Jordan Missin started up front for Sedge with regular forward Jamie Wasley and the pair gelled well but failed to score.
The best chance Sedge forged was a teasing cross from Andy Shuttleworth that Andy Philp just failed to connect with.
Former Eccleshill United and Brighouse Town midfielder Philp came off the bench to make his debut.
Meanwhile, SILSDEN slumped to a second Vodkat League Premier Division home defeat in a week as Bacup Borough followed Runcorn Linnets in taking all three points away from Cougar Park.
Bacup netted the all-important strike early to spoil Oldham Athletic under-19 goalkeeper Josh Olshaw’s first appearance for the Cobbydalers.
The young stopper got a hand to Chris Ogunode’s shot but could not prevent it crossing the line.
