Bradford Park Avenue’s crowd for the win over Marine that took them to the top of the UniBond League Premier Division was swelled by a contingent of Scottish football fanatics.
“The Dundee branch of our supporters were at last Saturday’s game and they enjoyed their day with us,” said Bradford’s chief executive officer Bob Blackburn.
“We do have supporters scattered around the globe but they are usually ex-pats who were brought up in the city. It is different with these lads who came down from Scotland at the weekend.
“A whole bunch of them came to West Yorkshire last year for a stag night and they stayed in Halifax. They were looking for a game to come to and spend their Saturday afternoon and when we heard about that we invited them down here.
“They enjoyed that first experience so much that they said they would return and they were true to their word and visited us again. We welcomed them because it’s a case of the more the merrier at Horsfall Stadium.
“We are working hard within the local community and we are trying to contact as many local clubs as possible regarding close links.
"It is an extension of the deal we are offering to season-ticket holders of City, Leeds, Huddersfield and Halifax football clubs and the Bulls and the Rhinos rugby clubs of half-price entry to all our home games.
“It is all about promoting yourself and letting everyone know that Park Avenue are still out there. We are committed to that deal throughout this month and if it goes well we could run it right through to the end of the season in May.
“I’m sure if people came to watch us for the first time they would be impressed by the standard and delighted by our form.
"We are playing good football at the moment and went top of the UniBond Premier, with two games in hand, after last Saturday’s win.
“If there are any people out there who have never been to a Bradford Park Avenue game I would like to show them what they have been missing. I will sort them out a complimentary family pass for a forthcoming home game if they e-mail me directly.
“Let me know and we will see what we can do to give you a good day at our club and show you what we are all about.”
