Thackley 5 Dinnington Town 1
Thackley followed up their seven-goal rout of basement outfit Brodsworth with a nap hand over Dinnington as they banked another three-point maximum in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
The home side raced to a 3-0 lead inside the first half hour. The deadlock was broken after just 13 minutes when Nicky Matthews netted a shot on the turn to convert a Sean Aiery cross.
Soon after, Dean Walters doubled the Reds’ lead and in the 28th minute Matthews went on a long run before steering a shot past the visitors’ keeper.
Town pulled a goal back before the break when Peter Smith made the most of a poor clearance from Reds keeper Ben Higginson.
Thackley contrived to waste an opportunity to restore their three-goal cushion when Luke Hudson blazed a spot-kick high over the bar following a handball in the area.
Matthews claimed a deserved hat-trick with another solo goal midway through the second half and Matt Morgan completed the scoring seven minutes from time.
