The Celts have lost first-choice keeper Piotr Skiba, who is returning to his native Poland to take up a contract with a club in their Third Division.

Boss Neil Parsley said: “I have thanked him for his time with our club and I’m sure that many of the supporters have done the same.”

The Pole was between the Farsley sticks for the last time in last Saturday’s win at Solihull Moors before saying his goodbyes at Tuesday’s West Riding Cup tie at Garforth Town.

“If he ever comes back to this country, I would hope he will pick the phone up and contact us. He would always be welcome,” added Parsley.

“He is leaving because he has been offered better money and will be playing for a full-time club.

“I think the season over in Poland runs at a different time than ours because of severe winters over there.

“But any hope of him splitting his time and playing for us during the close season in Poland – something like David Beckham has been doing with LA Galaxy and AC Milan – would be a non-starter because of work-permit issues.

“If he ever did return to us, it would have to be because he was living in England and be a permanent transfer.”

Skiba came to England for trials with Leeds United before being snapped up by the then Bradford Park Avenue boss Phil Sharpe. He also played for Guiseley.
