Bradford Park Avenue’s recent resurgence will be tested to the limit on Saturday as they head to Boston United for a top three UniBond Premier Division clash.
Avenue are third while the home side are immediately above them in the table but the clubs are separated by goal difference only.
With leaders Retford United away at FC United of Manchester, the top three are all involved in tough fixtures this weekend.
Avenue – who have a game in hand over their hosts – will be looking to maintain their recent form and bag a maximum from the ‘six-pointer’ while hoping Retford drop points at Gigg Lane.
Avenue boss Deacey has problems though. He explained: “There are a few injuries at the moment so we have our fingers crossed.
“We didn’t have a midweek game so the squad has had a full week’s rest, which will have helped.
“Luke Gibson is a worry after last Saturday. He came off after quarter of an hour against Nantwich Town with a hamstring injury. Brice Tiani came on for him and had a tremendous game but he took a knock and was struggling towards the end.
“Matty James had to come off late on and that wasn’t just to give him a rest. He is another player we will have to monitor and there are a couple of others, like Rob O’Brien, who are not one 100 per cent fit.
“We also had to change our centre back pairing last week because Ammers (Amjad Iqbal) was away on international duty with Pakistan. That gave Mark Hume the chance to come in for his first start since signing for us and he did very well.
“He is a quality player and all that quality was on show last week. And he also got our third goal to keep up his record.”
Hume has scored two and provided one crucial assist in his three appearances, two as a late substitute and last Saturday’s full game.
However, it is Aiden Savory who is leading the way for Avenue with 15 goals this term after he was also on target in the 3-2 victory over Nantwich Town.
