Once again the weather ruined a raft of fixtures involving Bradford Sunday Alliance League clubs.

The West Riding County Cup ties concerning Alliance clubs were also victims. They will be played next weekend.

The only county action was when visitors Micklefield Town scored a goal in each half to put Dudley Hill Reserves out of the West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy.

There was some league knockout action in the Intermediate Cup, Great Northern continuing their quest for the double by beating fellow Division 1B side Bolton Junction Inn 5-2 in the third round, with Paul Wyatt getting a brace for the hosts.

Great Northern have only lost one match this season and that was a midweek fixture at the start of the season.

They have scored 46 goals in the process, a total that has only been beaten by Premier outfit West Bowling in the top divisions, who have notched 48.

White Eagles trounced early-season pacesetters Wyke Wanderers. The hosts, with four players making their debuts, went on a goal-fest.

Two of the new boys shone, Jamie Bairstowe hitting a hat trick and Steve Hollingworth bagging a brace for the hosts, who were leading by five goals at the interval. Nick Howell and Chris Peltier also got on the scoresheet for the goal-hungry Eagles.

Two matches beat the weather in Division 1A, Bolton Woods Social getting into the mix at the top by beating a Wibsey WMC team who competed throughout on a difficult surface and were unlucky not to score on numerous occasions.

Strikes from Lee Bird and Charlie Flaherty proved the difference.

The other match played was a keenly-contested affair between Thackley Shoulder and Mill Lane, superbly refereed by Denis Shaw.

Both sides had chances but defences were on top, the winning goal being scored in the 83rd minute by Shoulder’s Liam Nicholson, latching onto a Lee Halpin through ball. Two matches also beat the conditions in Division 1B, Royal climbing the table after going behind early against hosts Saltaire Rangers, Chris Sutcliffe netting.

Michael Ferguson equalised before the interval, and second-half strikes by Ben Collier and Adam Mottram gave Royal the points.

Ravenscliffe went 3-0 up against Wrose Bull only to lose 6-3.

Ben Cahill, Steve Jackson and Karl Hemingbury netted for Ravenscliffe, with Jamie Fox replying for the visitors, and that was the way it remained until the hour mark.

But with Chris Hawker and Andy King hitting a brace and a strike from Micky Adams in the last half-hour, it proved too much for the hosts.

Clubs are reminded that, with the cancellations this week, a tremendous amount of matches have been rearranged or cancelled for next week due to County Cup commitments.
