Chris Casper admits he has been like a “bear with a sore head” since leaving City.

He lost his job as youth team boss as part of cost-cutting measures in May.

The former Bury manager has been looking to get back into football ever since but has struggled to find a role.

“I am not currently in a job as I was released from Bradford at the end of last season due to cutbacks that were made at the club,” he said.

“There are only so many jobs in football and only 92 managerial posts in the Football League.

“It is a very highly pressurised industry and a high turnover of jobs with managers and coaches, particularly outside of the bigger clubs.

“If you look at the bigger picture it seems as though the bigger clubs are expanding and the smaller clubs are finding it ever more difficult.

“Even a club like Bradford, who can pull in crowds of 12,000 on a weekly basis, are making cutbacks and releasing the top-earning players.”

Casper was only in the City role for 11 months but his contract wasn’t renewed and David Wetherall will now combine running the youth side with the reserves.

Casper was highly respected at Valley Parade but told the PFA website givemefootball.com: “I’m like a bear with a sore head while I am out of work!

“I am not really looking for a specific job – just a good job back in football. I really enjoy coaching and dealing with footballers.

“Being involved in coaching and management is a bit like a drug and it is what I am trained to do.”
