Watch out for Andy Lynch at London 2012 – in the Team GB squash side!
Lynchy’s been wearing the pink T-shirt in training this week after his embarrassing squash antics.
He’s taken it up as his new hobby and he’s already got a GB ranking he’s been playing that much.
He’s even been sighted down at the squash club in Pontefract in his full Bradford Bulls garb. He’s been playing all year but because we’d won a couple of games he’s now been caught in his Bulls tracksuit down there.
A bunch of the Hull FC lads were in there and saw him playing again. We went down earlier and were lucky enough to get a few free sessions from the pros but Lynchy kept butting in, putting them right and telling them how to play the game!
He really does think he’s up there now – look out London 2012 with Team GB.
There’s been a few issues among the coaches this week. Clogger’s fallen out with Basil (Richards). Apparently, Clogger says whenever Bas needs him for anything, he’s always there whatever it is. But when it’s the other way around Bas is gone and nowhere to be seen. He’s not happy.
Bake-off is now into the final 12. You’d probably have to say the front-runners are Nick Scruton – with his simple dishes, done well – Paul Medley with his alcohol-based desserts and Stuart Barrow, who really stepped it up this week with a very spicy ginger cake. He added a nice touch by bringing in fresh coffee too to wash it down. The lads have a lot to live up in the final rounds.
Celtic are a bit of an unknown quantity as we’ve not had the chance of playing them yet.
They have some talent who seem to be finding their feet now and some real threats, especially with the ball in hand.
I’m sure it’ll be a big test for us, especially having had a week off. We’ve got to make sure we’re definitely switched on mentally as well as physically – sometimes it can work against you having a free weekend, especially having two wins. We must keep the momentum going and stay on top of our game.
