Brighouse 4 Teversal 2

Brighouse broke through the 20-point barrier and hauled themselves back into mid-table and above their Northern Counties East League Division One visitors in the process with a good win.

They raced into the lead, held a 2-0 advantage at the interval and never trailed in the game.

There were never any nervous moments, even when Teversal managed to reduce the arrears after the hour.

Town squandered two very early chances before they broke the deadlock. Karl Amos opened the scoring in the 17th minute and netted his second just three minutes later.

Paul Moore scored the third just three minutes into the second half and that ended the game as a contest.

The visitors hit back just after the hour through Andrew Woodcock before Daniel Ryan restored Town’s three-goal advantage. Teversal’s Jack Michelon completed the scoring.

Brighouse secretary Malcolm Taylor said: “It was a good win and we needed it. In the first half we were the better side but we played decent football throughout the game.

“The substitutions broke our rhythm a bit but you expect that to happen. That allowed them to come back at us but we still did most of the pressing, even after their goals.”
