City fought out a second successive goalless draw in an entertaining clash at Sincil Bank.
City twice felt they could have had a penalty in the first half. But Lincoln had the best early chances with Michael Boulding heading clear from in front of the line to deny Danny Hone and Dany N'Guessan shooting wide from a tight angle.
The goal-mouth action livened up after the break with both sides wondering how they didn't score.
Lee Frecklington was guilty of a dreadful miss for Lincoln and also saw a close-range effort brilliantly kept out by Rhys Evans.
Boulding thought he had headed City in front but former City target Rob Burch touched the ball on to the post. And Burch also frustrated Omar Daley with a fine tip-over.
CITY: Evans, Arnison, Lee, Clarke, O'Brien, Jones, Law, McLaren, Daley, Boulding, Conlon. Subs: Bower, Thorne, Ainge, Nix, Furman.
