Guiseley assistant-manager Wayne Benn is looking forward to the visit of his former club Avenue for Boxing Day's UniBond Premier Division derby.
Benn began his career at Valley Parade with Bradford City before moving across town and into non-league with the Horsfall outfit. He enjoyed his time and still follows both clubs despite residing in his native Frickley.
Benn will be hoping the Lions are not feeling as generous as they have been over the last week. Last Saturday they scored four goals away from home and still lost as Cammell Laird pulled off an unlikely 5-4 victory.
In midweek they slipped out of the West Riding County Cup, beaten 4-3 after leading 3-0 at home to league rivals Ossett Town.
Before the game against Lairds, Benn had issued a warning that the Lions’ defence was under-manned.
Four centre backs have been injured, with Jez Fitzgerald and James Cotterill playing while not fully fit and Danny Ellis and Ryan Crossley absent.
Simeon Bambrook is short of match fitness and carrying a rib injury after his stint on the Gladiators TV show and first-choice keeper Piotr Skiba also missed Tuesday’s cup defeat through injury.
Rival manager John Deacey was at that tie which, according to reports, was marred by an altercation between a supporter and Lions boss Steve Kittrick.
