Thackley moved up to eighth in the Kool Sport NCEL Premier Division with last weekend’s 2-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare and will be hoping to consolidate their place when they host struggling Brodsworth Welfare on Saturday.
Billy Fox’s side will not be able to improve on their league placing even with a win but they will be looking for maximum points as their visitors languish in 17th place with just 12 points and a goal difference of minus 20.
Dean Walters, who has returned to Dennyfield after a short spell with Guiseley, was the hero at Armthorpe as he scored both the goals.
His feat was all the more remarkable as he had to come off at half-time with a heavy cold but he should be back to maximum health.
Thackley’s win at Armthorpe could be the last game for a while at the Doncaster outfit’s Church Street ground because of vandalism.
There is rubble on the pitch, walls knocked down and structural damage to the stand following the attack which has forced the club to shut the ground.
