The Bradford Sunday Alliance League's last chance of glory this season in the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup ended when Bolton Woods were beaten 5-0 at Birkenhead team Queens Park.
However, there was some success for Alliance teams in the West Riding County Cup when Division One Thornton visited Battyeford Sports and Social at Mirfield and came away with the spoils after an excellent 4-2 victory.
The hosts moved in front early on and held the lead until the interval but strikes from Phil Holmes and Chris Brado put the visitors in front, only for Battyeford to equalise with ten minutes to go.
But a strike by Sean Durkin and another, with the last kick of the match, by Delroy White put Thornton through to the next round.
Baildon Trinity were also victorious in their tie with Yeadon Veterans, running out by 5-1 winners with Micky Harran hitting a brace and Danny Milner, Simon Dawson and Harry Bates also being on target.
There was also Bradford and District Sunday Cup action and there was a nine-goal thriller at Apperley Bridge when Victoria Rangers, from Division 1A, entertained Premier Division opponents Ventus Sports.
Jerrard Peltier put the Premier team in front, and from that point they never lost the lead but the lower-division team were always within striking distance and never more than one goal behind.
Ryan Firth hit a brace for the hosts and also hit the post with the last kick of the match to deny himself a hat-trick.
Brother Sean was on the mark as well and Ben Fielden also scored. Neil Murray hit a brace for the visitors and then Ian Horrocks slotted home a penalty.
But, with three minutes to go, Ben Hardy hit the winner for Sports.
Thackley Shoulder matched Premier Division counterparts Campion Park Avenue stride for stride until the last 15 minutes when fitness and skill levels told.
Campion scored after 60 minutes through Danny Castro and never looked back, adding three goals in the last 15 minutes from Dwight Williamson, Chris Humphries and Jamail Joseph.
The visitors did manage to score from a corner but referee Rob Halley, who had a fine game, disallowed the “goal” after he was unsighted and could not confirm that they had netted.
That was at 2-0 and it would have made for an interesting last 15 minutes.
Otley Road and Westwood Park played Westwood’s 'home' tie at Otley Road's ground and Park were hit for nine goals by their in-form hosts.
John Selby scored four for Road and a brace each for Lee Binns and Alec Cusack, plus a strike for Brian Carr, proved too much in the all-Division One match.
Lee Burgiss, with a brace, and Glyn Hirst scored for Westwood.
In the Premier Division, Oakenshaw made up some ground on West Bowling with a 4-2 victory and, in the only Division One match, played Wyke Wanderers proved too strong for White Eagles with a fine 5-2 victory over their opponents.
Seven Stars beat FC Hudson 4-1 in Division 1A and, in Division 1B, James Royal hit a double hat-trick for FC George in a 7-1 triumph over Wibsey WMC B.
St George missed a golden opportunity to make up leeway on leaders Allerton when Salaire Rangers held them to a 2-2 draw.
