Cammell Laird 5, Guiseley 4
Guiseley committed the sin of scoring four goals away from home yet getting nothing from the game and the slip-up cost them second place in the UniBond League Premier Division.
Eastwood Town have dislodged Guiseley from the runners-up spot on goal difference and they also have two games in hand.
Town and Guiseley are joined on 39 points by fourth-placed Marine in the pack chasing leaders Hednesford Town.
It looked glum for financially-stricken Cammell Laird when Guiseley jumped into a 2-0 lead with two goals in as many minutes.
Simeon Bambrook opened the scoring midway through the first half and Adam Muller added the next in the blink of an eye.
Lairds came back to restore parity before the break, with Richie Foulkes beginning the comeback in the 41st minute and Lee Atherton levelling on the stroke of half-time.
Guiseley took the lead again just nine minutes into the second period, Jez Fitzgerald making it 3-2, but it was downhill from there for the visitors.
Atherton netted his second on the hour to equalise, before Danny Andrews and Anthony Sheehan both scored to leave Guiseley chasing the game.
And although Chris Bolder reduced the arrears with three minutes remaining, the Lions could not find another goal that would have given them a share of the spoils.
