St Helens Town 4, Silsden 1

Silsden were found wanting as they headed to one of their biggest bogey grounds in the Vodkat League and their failings gifted rock-bottom St Helens Town a welcome Premier Division victory.

The home side took the lead inside the first ten minutes but it was after that when it all fell apart for the visitors. Sean Airey had to go off after ten minutes and Tim Hird lasted only 20.

Cobbydalers manager Paul Schofield came off the bench in the second half to make his first appearance in over three years.

But the problems continued and Silsden had to play the last ten minutes with ten men after using all three substitutes.

Vinny Freeman netted early but Silsden levelled when Aaron Hollindrake headed home a Harry Thompson free-kick.

Phil Mitchell scored twice in the second half and Graeme Mitchell hammered the final nail in the Cobbydalers’ coffin while they were struggling with ten able bodies.
