Thorney got the biggest cheer when the players had their Christmas do this week.
He walked in wearing his lumberjack gear and his jeans tucked into his boots, which entertained everyone.
But surprisingly he didn’t win the vote for the worst dresser.
Thorney only got three or four votes but TJ walked away with it with 20 for wearing one of kitman Baz Wood’s training vests!
It’s always good to get everyone together and we had an enjoyable time. I think a bit of team bonding every now and again is important because it brings the group closer together.
You get to know things about your team-mates you wouldn’t normally find out training every day. And a few things you’d rather not hear!
As an injured player, it was also good to be back in with the lads again but on Tuesday it was business as usual and I was on my own running.
But I’ve pretty much had that since I started the rehab so it’s hard to tell where I am at.
It’s good to see Bully and Deano Furman back playing for the reserves and hopefully that’s the start of the injured players returning to the squad. If we can get everyone back in the new year, that will give the whole place a real boost for the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, I still don’t know when I’ll be given the all clear to play again.
I keep having updates every week with Karen and Adam and they’ve done well for me because there are days when I come in feeling down in the dumps. They build me up again and help me mentally, which is a big help.
It’s not easy to get your head round because tendinitis is not like a normal injury.
If I’d torn my hamstring or something like that, I’d know the schedule of the rehab and could see myself getting better every day, whereas I’ve had this for two months now and this week is probably the first time I’ve seen any slight improvement.
I just hope it’s not another two months before things are looking up again.
