Burton Albion 1, Farsley Celtic 1
Farsley Celtic are still in the hunt for the FA Trophy after coming away from Conference leaders Burton Albion with a creditable draw tonight.
They now face a first-round replay against Nigel Clough’s side at Throstle Nest next Tuesday.
The Celts began well at the Pirelli Stadium as Rory Prendergast thumped a 13th-minute free-kick smack against the post.
Prendergast then fed Andy Campbell and his cross was headed against the woodwork by Jake Speight.
Burton opened the scoring just before the half-hour following another free-kick. It was lofted into the area and Greg Pearson forced it home from close range in the ensuing scramble.
Campbell had the ball in the net in the 62nd minute when he appeared to be onside but the strike was ruled out by a flag. Minutes later Farsley earned their replay, however.
Speight drilled a through ball to Lee Tuck inside the area, he and the Burton keeper collided and Speight followed in to drill home the loose ball.
Burton hit the bar with a header six minutes from time but that was a threat out of the blue as the visitors worked hard to deserve a second bite at the cherry.
