There was a narrow 4-3 win for Nab Wood Juniors Reserves at Bradford Moor YSA in DIVISION 3B as Liam Shields’ hat-trick proved decisive.
Nab Wood had a man sent off with the score at 2-2 but still moved 4-2 up before surviving a late onslaught from the hosts, who had Sharaz Hussain (2) and Shafrang Ali on target.
Skipper Brian Shaw completed the tally for Nab Wood, for whom goalkeeper Peter Priestley excelled on a Myra Shay pitch that won praise from the winners.
Shoulder of Mutton secured their first win of the season, defeating hosts New Tyke Rangers 7-3 as Dave Priestley supported hat-tricks from Kane Ramsey and Wayne Griffiths.
Keighley Rangers demolished Aire Athletic 9-2 and Thornbury Celtic regained top spot after a comfortable 4-0 victory over Ring o’ Bells. There were two nine-goal affairs in DIVISION FOUR as Ravenscliffe Reserves crashed 8-1 at home to Cycling, for whom Andrew Brown was among the goals, while Harold Club edged out hosts Oddfellows Athletic 5-4.
Harold Club found themselves 3-1 down following a Michael War brace but a great second-half performance earned them all three points.
Further up the league, Wyke Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Otley Road in DIVISION ONE, with Andrew Beckwith scoring for the hosts.
Matthew Preston scored ten minutes from time to give Fiddlers Three a 1-0 home win over Wibsey WMC in DIVISION 1A.
A Nick Walker double helped St George to a 4-1 home victory over George FC in DIVISION 1B, with Jack Hopkinson and Sean Jack also on the scoresheet.
And leaders Allerton improved their position with a 5-3 home win over Prospect, with Jody Cromell’s hat-trick supported by Ben Omelia and Craig Haigh.
