Former City loan player Ben Parker again faces competition for the Leeds left-back spot from Alan Sheehan after the former Leicester defender completed a permanent move to Elland Road.

Sheehan, who spent most of last season on loan at Leeds, is likely to be first choice.

The 21-year-old has signed a three-year deal and even though he is out of contract at Leicester, Leeds will have to pay a fee because he is under 24.

Gary McAllister said: “One of things that impressed me about Alan was how hard he was prepared to work. He was determined to win a contract here and I was impressed by his attitude.”

The Leeds manager is happy to go into the new season with Sheehan and Parker battling for the left back spot while on the other flank Frazer Richardson will face competition from Scott Gardner.

“There’s a nice balance on both sides now,” McAllister said.
