Keighley Cougars’ Challenge Cup opener is currently shrouded in uncertainty.
The Cougars have been drawn at home to York Knights in the second round on January 25/26, but the North Yorkshire side are due to play Hull Kingston Rovers in Amsterdam that weekend.
The marquee friendly was arranged several months ago, with the hope being that bringing rugby league to the Netherlands could help grow the game there.
At the time, York were unaware that the game would clash with the Challenge Cup second round, so a decision will have to be made.
Given the work already put into the expansion friendly abroad, it seems unlikely that will be cancelled or moved, so the assumption at this stage is that Cougars and York might have to find a different weekend to play their second-round tie.
