BRADFORD (Park Avenue) have continued with their squad revamp, confirming the exit of two more players on Tuesday afternoon.

Former Salford City defender Josh Askew has left the club to join Ossett United, who play in the Northern Premier League East Division like Avenue.

Askew is a player with real non-league pedigree, who has previously won the National League North title with both Salford and Stockport County.

He also had spells with the likes of Chester and Curzon Ashton at that level.

But with Avenue seemingly having settled on their current defence, Askew has not played since the club’s 3-2 win at Golcar United in the West Riding County Cup first round, way back on September 24.

In a club statement, Avenue wrote: “We would like to thank Josh for his commitment and efforts over the last few months.

“We wish him all the best as he continues his football journey.”

Additionally, Avenue have confirmed that defender Ben Whelan has gone out on a three-month loan deal to Sheffield FC.

Sheffield also play in the NPL East Division alongside Avenue, with Whelan linking back up with Ed Hall, the stopper having swapped Horsfall for South Yorkshire a few weeks ago.

At just 19, Whelan should progress his game with regular first-team football at Sheffield, who have struggled so far this season.

He will also be familiar with his new surroundings, having made nine appearances on loan for Sheffield last season while he was still a Fleetwood Town player.

Avenue said: “We wish Ben the best of luck and look forward to seeing his development during this loan spell.”
