News of Dick Storr’s death is a stunning blow for Farsley, writes Alan Birkinshaw.

He was a man who would do anything for the club he served with distinction for over 60 years.

Whether it was as a player, a club chairman or as a sponsor, he always wanted the best for the Red Lane club.

The refurbishment of the clubhouse and the erection of the scorebox were both achieved during his chairmanship.

The facility upgrade led to the club being asked to host the Priestley Shield final in 2012 and the Priestley Cup final 12 months later.

Dick was a warm and engaging personality. His beaming smile and sense of fun will be long remembered by all who met him.

He also had a ferocious determination and set high standards for himself and those who worked with him.

As well as his contribution to Farsley, he also served on the Yorkshire County Cricket Club Committee and was managing director of Zebra Print Management.

The league’s thoughts are with his partner Jean, his family and all at Farsley at this sad time.

The Bradford Premier League has lost another great servant.
