Mohammed Subhaan is still reeling from the first professional defeat of his career.

The talented young Bradford boxer, known as “The Superman” had won all of his first seven bouts, but he suffered a surprise defeat to Ramiro Garcia Lopez to end his perfect start.

That lightweight bout took place on August 31 at the Metrodome in Barnsley, and Subhaan started brightly against Garcia Lopez (6-13).

As the contest edged towards the end of the fifth round, the Bradford man looked to be well on top.

But a fierce left hand from his Mexican rival seconds before the bell seemed to change the complexion of the fight.

Garcia Lopez completely dominated thereafter, knocking a stunned Subhaan down twice in the sixth round.

After having his gumshield replaced, Subhaan came under attack again, with referee Darren Sarginson forced to wave off the fight.

Subhaan will have to wait to come back from that bruising sixth round technical knockout defeat, with him not allowed to fight again until at least September 28, as determined by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Another young Bradford boxer, Tauseef Suleman, remains unbeaten in his professional career, with five wins from five so far.

The super-lightweight is due to return from an eight-month hiatus at the Oldham Leisure Centre on October 15, with a fight pencilled in against Karl Sampson.

The 23-year-old also tentatively has a fight scheduled for November 30 in Oldham, though no opponent has been announced for him yet.

It will be great to see Hamed Ghaz (18-1) back in the ring, with his last fight way back in February 2023, where the Bradford ace lost to Reece Mould by unanimous decision in an English lightweight title bout.

His comeback is set to be at the same venue, the Magna Centre in Rotherham, though no opponent has been announced for that prospective fight on November 9.

Peter Naylor will be looking to fly the flag for Bradford on November 16 when he takes on Luis Wright (6-0) for the vacant Central Area Heavyweight title in Manchester.

Bradford heavyweight Dan Garber is due back in the ring on October 13, against an as-yet-unnamed opponent at the Cedar Court Hotel in BD5, while super flyweight Fezan Shahid, also from the city is due to be on the same bill against Steven Maguire.

Finally, Keighley lightweight Ibrahim Nadim (11-1) is due back in action very soon, as he is set to take on Erick Omar Lopez (16-15-2) in Bolton this coming Saturday.
