In the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division, Tong Park Esholt had a last-wicket partnership of 38 between Usman Munir (49 not out) and Neil Cooper (0 off 11 balls) to secure a thrilling tie at home to Horsforth Hall Park.

Hall Park had earlier made 188, Saqib Mir taking 4-41 to reduce them to 143-9, before they too had a remarkable last-wicket stand.

Fawad Maqsood (23) put on 48 for Esholt’s fourth wicket with Noah Kershaw (39), and keeper Nick Smith scored 27.

Their race looked run when Cooper came out to join Munir with the score on 150-9, but the latter thrashed five fours and three sixes to bring them level, only to be left stranded at the death.

That result gave both sides 13 points apiece, with Esholt sat seventh and Hall Park eighth with a game to go.

Saltaire still have a chance of finishing second behind champions Otley after thrashing relegated Bilton.

Captain Sajad Ali was the main man for Saltaire, promoting himself to opener and scoring 137 from just 115 deliveries, including 20 fours and two sixes.

He added 158 for the second wicket with Awaise Hussain (50) and 67 for the third with Jibrael Malik (59no) before being dismissed.

That allowed them to post a mammoth 317-5 after winning the toss, Bilton then being dismissed for 156 as Ihsan Insanullah took 5-65.

Results at the weekend confirmed that Rawdon will be going down alongside Bilton.

Calverley have completed the Great Escape in Division One, securing safety with a week to go after their thumping six-wicket victory at Bradford side Bolton Villas on Saturday.

They looked dead and buried after the matches on August 24, but have secured their survival by winning their last four matches.

Mid-table Villas were blown away at the weekend, only scoring 76 after winning the toss, and despite a slight wobble in their reply, Calverley overhauled that paltry total inside just 16 overs.

Calverley are now 29 points ahead of Harden with one game to go, with the latter being relegated alongside Bardsey.

At the other end of the table, champions Addingham and second-placed Beckwithshaw have already secured promotion.

Bingley Congs, still chasing fourth place in Division Two, lost by 16 runs at home to Alwoodley, who were 93-1 after winning the toss but were dismissed for 162.

Spin twins Mohammad Adil took 5-41 and Neil Copping 3-2 before tea, but Congs were 14-4 as their reply started dreadfully.

Stefan Mather (40) and Copping (56) led a recovery to 133-6 but Congs lost their last four wickets for 13 runs, Copping being run out to conclude the match.

Thackley are one place and 12 points behind Congs in sixth after defeating visitors Horsforth by five wickets.

Horsforth were dismissed for 192 after being sent in, Ryan MacMillan taking 4-40 for the hosts.

Thackley were 10-2 but a stand of 67 between Jamie Ross (33) and Muhammad Shoaib (72) put them back on track, and the latter added 73 with captain and keeper Jack Holland (43no),

Those partnerships broke the back of the chase, and Thackley won at the end of the 46th over.

Both Congs and Thackley had their moments in 2024, but neither were able to sustain a promotion challenge, with Menston and Kirkstall Educational already up heading into Saturday’s final day.
