BRADFORD Premier League side Windhill & Daisy Hill have suddenly been emphatically catapulted into the promotion race.
Wrenthorpe sat second heading into tomorrow’s final round of fixtures, but the league have confirmed in a statement that both their first and second teams have been deducted 20 points for misconduct.
That drops them from second to fourth, and with the top two going up, it changes the promotion picture completely.
Adwalton now sit second on 306 points, while Shipley-based outfit Windhill & Daisy Hill have 303.
Wrenthorpe can still recover from this body blow with one game to go, as they now have 300 points.
With up to 20 points available per game to sides in the Bradford Premier League, any of those three could join champions Great Preston in going up to Division Two.
A league statement confirmed: “Wrenthorpe have had 20 league points deducted from the records of their first and second teams having reached Threshold One of the League’s Club Misconduct Code (CMC).
“They had six De-Merit points added to their record after incidents at the end of their first team's recent Division Three game with Adwalton.
“The League Panel which adjudicated on the incident have also added three De-Merit points to Adwalton's record.”
If Windhill & Daisy Hill still have to rely on an Adwalton slip up this weekend, Yorkshire now have promotion in their hands in Division Two of the Vitality County Championship.
They were third heading into the latest round of fixtures, behind Sussex and Middlesex, with only the top two going up to Division One.
But while Sussex and Yorkshire both won by an innings inside three days, against Glamorgan and Leicestershire respectively, Middlesex lost their nerve.
They blew a good position against Gloucestershire at Lord’s and lost by four wickets on yesterday’s final day.
That set of results put Yorkshire up to second behind Sussex, and they now have a 15-point advantage over third-placed Middlesex.
There are two games of the season left to go, with Yorkshire's next one coming against Glamorgan.
That four-day clash in Cardiff gets underway next Tuesday.
