SALTAIRE, champions in 2021, third in 2022 and fourth in 2023, are fifth at the moment in the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division.

However, they did have the pleasure of defeating 2024 champions Otley at Roberts Park on Saturday.

Saltaire chose to bat and made a middling 180, with opener Adbi-Hasan Ahmed (61) putting on 48 for the third wicket with Sandeep Singh (36) before captain Sajad Ali (22) helped the tail wag a bit.

Otley were set a revised target of 173 from 42 overs, but could only score 158, with Ali taking 3-55 and Ihsan Isanullah claiming 4-28.

Tong Park Esholt are only two places and nine points worse off than Saltaire after a four-wicket victory at Pool.

The hosts were dismissed for only 133 in 22.1 overs after being sent in, Dave Hester (5-42) and Saqib Mir (4-16) doing the damage.

Hester was out quickly in the reply, but fellow opener Jake Sali (52) and Daniel Groom (36 not out) then put on 103 as TPE won in the 32nd over.

Bolton Villas, safe in Division One mid-table, sent in Guiseley at Nethermoor and dismissed them for 173 in 39 overs, with Adam Shabir taking 6-42.

Villas were set a revised target of 179 from 40 overs, but got nowhere near it, being dismissed for 103 inside 29 overs, the unlucky Shabir (27) top scoring.

Bingley Congs remain fifth in Division Two after an easy win at cellar dwellers Rodley.

The hosts could not cope with Stefan Mather (4-35), Harry Greenhalgh (3-14) and the accurate Alex Bradbury (2-8) and were back in the pavilion for 86 in 28.2 overs.

Congs, set a revised target of 85 from 47 overs, won by eight wickets by the end of the 17th over, captain and opener George Hicks (42) leading the way.

Thackley leap-frogged both Green Lane and Alwoodley, who they beat by eight wickets to climb to sixth.

Hosts Alwoodley, sent in, could only make 136, the wickets being shared between Aftab Khan (4-26 off 15 overs), Muhammad Shoaib (3-25) and Jordan Moore (3-53).

Opener Ryan MacMillan then sped the visitors to victory by scoring 78 not out off 66 balls.
