BINGLEY Congs featured in a bizarre match at home to Leeds Modernians in Aire-Wharfe League Division Two, winning it thanks to an extraordinary helping hand from their visitors.

Sent in, fourth-placed Congs made 206, Alex Bradbury top scoring with 43 at No.9, but the eye-catching statistic was the number of runs Mods conceded in extras.

They gifted Congs an astonishing 88 extra runs, with 66 coming from 36 wides, 10 from byes and 11 from leg byes, with a solitary no ball.

Next-to-bottom Mods replied with 141, Stefan Mather taking 5-57 and Bradbury chipping in with 2-13 from nine overs in their side’s 65-run victory.

Thackley remain ninth after a two-wicket defeat at home to Old Leodiensians.

After choosing to bat, the hosts made 221, with Jamie Ross (53) top scoring and Saad Khan (31) adding useful middle-order runs.

But their efforts were not enough as Leos replied with a winning 222-8 from 41 overs, Craig Wiseman taking 4-66.

In the Premier Division, Saltaire have dropped one spot to fourth, being overtaken by Burley, who made 245-6 after choosing to bat at Hodson Park, Ihsan Isanullah taking 4-38.

Farhan Sheikh (58) and captain Sajad Ali (20 not out) were the only ones to shape up after tea as the visitors were dismissed for a disappointing 139.

Tong Park Esholt have dropped a place to ninth after being the latest team to lose to leaders Otley.

The latter made 278-8 after winning the toss, which was some recovery from 20-4, Shahid Mehmood taking 3-30.

TPE never got close to chasing that total down, as they were rolled over for 82 in 29.3 overs, Chris Holdsworth top-scoring with 18.

In Division One, Bolton Villas, in a congested mid-table, won by 17 runs at Olicanian.

Villas chose to bat and did so solidly, with five players scoring over 30 in their 227.

Opener Nachiket Verlekar made 32, before Zeeshan Haider (37) put on 40 for the seventh wicket with Dev Sehara (37).

Haider then added 45 for the eighth with Adam Shabir (39), who then put on 55 for the ninth with Adam Zahid (35).

Ollies replied with an opening partnership of 57 and an eighth-wicket stand of 68, but there was too little in between and they were all out for 210, with Verlekar taking 5-64 and Shabir 3-49.
