SALTAIRE stayed third in the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division after winning one of the games of the day at home to Rawdon.

The men from Roberts Park chose to have first knock, but must have been wondering whether they made the right decision when they were 12-2.

However, Awaise Hussain then batted through the innings from 6-1 and they finished on 235-5, with the former stranded on 98 not out, which included 12 fours and a six off 139 deliveries.

Hussain added 152 for the fourth wicket with Sandeep Singh, whose contribution was 88 off just 59 balls, which contained 15 fours.

Rawdon went from 60-0 to 66-3, but a partnership of 90 between skipper Joe Smith (69) and Tom Watson (44no) for the fifth wicket took them close and they finished agonisingly close on 230-7, with Tawkal Zadran taking 4-44.

Tong Park Esholt had a double weekend, defeating visitors North Leeds by 67 runs on Saturday before losing by 86 runs at Saltaire on Sunday.

Sent in, TPE were indebted to Will Rhodes on Saturday as his 100 off 111 balls, including 14 fours and a six, helped them from 54-4 to 254-9 against North Leeds.

Fawad Maqsood (35) put on 87 for the fifth wicket with Rhodes, who added 47 for the eighth with Saqib Mir (19).

North Leeds were 83-2 in reply but could only muster 187 as Shahid Mehmood took 4-63 and Jake Sali 3-63.

Seven decent contributions helped Saltaire to 228 at Roberts Park on Sunday, led by opener Subhaan Ammar (45) and Ihsan Ihsanullah (42) as Mir bagged 5-101.

TPE replied with 142, Maqsood (45) and skipper Dave Hester (27) top scoring as the wickets were shared between captain Sajad Ali (3-31), Zadran (3-30) and Ihsanullah (3-37).

In Division Two, Bolton Villas’ 153 at home to Beckwithshaw never looked enough after they chose to bat.

Opener Nachiket Verlekar (27) and Adam Shabir (25no) did best with the bat for Villas, but the visitors knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets by the end of the 28th over.

Cellar dwellers Calverley were on the wrong end of a run spree at Olicanian, who made 363-7 after being sent in, Greg Byrne doping well to take 4-67.

Calverley replied with a creditable 264-7, with Tayyab Riaz blasting 158 off 147 balls, including 22 fours and five sixes.

Umayr Hewitt (41) helped him add 193 for the sixth wicket.

In Division Two, Bingley Congs remained fourth after racking up 311-6 after being sent in by visitors Thackley.

Captain George Hicks (74) and Charles Ramsey (64) set Congs on their way with a stand of 158, with Hicks hitting 16 fours in a stay of 69 balls and Ramsey 11 fours and two sixes in an innings of 79 balls.

Josh Nutting (24), overseas player Jarrod Klauer (41), Neil Copping (24) and Stefan Mather (36no) then weighed in down the order as Jack Holland took 3-52.

Thackley replied with 278, Holland (81) and Aftab Khan (105) putting on 175 for the seventh wicket as Alex Bradbury took 3-70 and Mather 3-74.
