THACKLEY eased their fears of having to apply for re-election in Aire-Wharfe League Division Two after notching what was only their fourth league victory of the season.
They made visitors Shadwell regret choosing to bat at Ainsbury Avenue, dismissing them for just 88 as new-ball pair Craig Wiseman (4-20) and Aftab Khan (5-24) tore into their innings.
Thackley didn’t find things easy either, but were indebted to keeper and skipper Jack Holland (26 not out), who helped them to a three-wicket victory by the end of the 23rd over.
It keeps them 18 points above second-bottom Leeds Modernians, while basement boys Rodley look like goners already, further cut adrift at the foot of the table after losing by 47 runs against Kirkstall Educational on Saturday.
Bingley Congs had a double weekend and lost both matches - at Skipton and Menston - but stay fourth.
Skipton made an impressive 238-9 after opting to bat at Sandylands, with Alex Bradbury taking 4-51 and Stefan Mather 4-38.
Congs were then back in the pavilion for 111, despite captain and keeper George Hicks (25), Simon Bailey (26) and Josh Nutting (28) also contributing.
Menston did even better the following day, scoring 256-7 after winning the toss, Harry Greenhalgh taking 4-57.
Congs replied with 172, No.9 Bradbury scoring an unbeaten 38 and opener Charles Ramsey contributing with 33.
In the Premier Division, Saltaire climbed two places to sixth, leapfrogging opponents North Leeds in the process.
North batted first and made 196, with the wickets being shared between skipper Sajad Ali (3-60), Tawkal Zadran (3-55) and Ihsan Isanullah (4-55).
Saltaire were given a fine start by opener Haroon Mahmood (52), before No.3 Awaise Hussain (52no) saw them home by three wickets in the 48th over.
Tong Park Esholt’s batting failed at Steeton as they were all out for 107 after winning the toss, despite 34 from captain Dave Hester.
Steeton won by four wickets in the 27th over for what was only their third league win of the season, despite Saqib Mir taking 3-27.
In Division One, Bolton Villas went down by 54 runs at Follifoot, who were dismissed for 259 after winning the toss, Mahboob Hussain taking 4-76 and Nachiket Verlekar 3-68.
Villas were then too reliant on opener Verlekar (58) and No.4 Dev Sehara (83) in the reply, with only two other players joining them in double figures.
Calverley are adrift at the bottom on 85 points after losing by six wickets to Guiseley.
