WEST Bowling are still clinging on to hope of survival after a brilliant 22-18 home win over Wath Brow Hornets last weekend.

The Bradford side did not pick up their first victory of 2024 in the National Conference League Premier Division until the end of April, when they edged out York Acorn 28-22 at Horsfall.

They backed that up a week later by winning 26-14 against Kells, but that was followed by a grim five-game losing streak that saw them plummet back to the foot of the table.

A win against Wath last Saturday was therefore imperitave for John Williams’ side, and they managed that courtesy of two tries from full back Lewis Camden, as well as one apiece for Dan Halmshaw and Oliver Bartle.

Harry Williams landed three of his four goal attempts from the kicking tee, with Bowling now just four points from safety.

Drighlington are still in the hunt for promotion from Division Three and moved up to fourth after squeezing their way to a 12-8 win at lowly Seaton Rangers.

Over in Division Three of the Yorkshire Men’s League, there were a few more points scored at Upton, as the hosts humbled struggling visitors Wyke 78-6 in a hugely one-sided affair.

In Division Six, Keighley Albion Academy made it four wins in a row by impressively beating King Cross Park Academy 38-10, Sam Wild helping himself to a hat-trick.

They did not lost two and drew one of their first three league games, but this fine run of form has seen them leap up to fourth.
